Zone Body construction decides what gets replaced
Nissan calls its unibody design Zone Body construction: crush zones at both ends engineered to fold, wrapped around a passenger cell engineered not to. The cell’s stubbornness comes from ultra-high-strength grades in the pillars, rockers and roof rails — grades that permanently give up the property they were chosen for the moment anyone heats or drags them straight. Nissan’s own repair information says so, and the danger is that a cooked part looks identical afterward and is not.
In practice that means a Rogue or Sentra front hit gets triaged by measurement, never by appearance. The vehicle goes on the laser bench, datum points are compared to Nissan’s dimensions, and anything out of tolerance is either pulled where the procedure allows it or replaced at a factory joint where it does not. Both sets of readings are documented and travel to your insurance company with the supplement — which, under Ontario’s DCPD system, is usually your own insurance company when the crash was not your fault.
ProPILOT and Around View cameras after body repair
For ProPILOT Assist and automatic emergency braking, Nissan mounts a camera at the top of the windshield and a millimetre-wave radar behind the front emblem area. The Around View Monitor adds four more cameras — grille, both mirrors, tailgate or trunk lid — and every one of them lives on a panel that collisions and condo-garage pillars love to find. A rear-end repair moves the tailgate camera; a mirror replacement moves a side one.
Because those four feeds are stitched into a single overhead image, even a small mounting shift shows up as lines that no longer meet on the screen. Every Nissan is scanned before teardown and after reassembly, any disturbed camera or radar gets the calibration Nissan publishes for it, and the overhead view is checked on the display before handover. A stitched image with clean seams is the fastest visual proof that every camera went back exactly where it belonged.

Leaf and Ariya: the high-voltage system comes first
The Leaf and Ariya carry their battery packs flat in the floor between the axles, which makes the pack part of the structure and puts it directly behind any rocker or floor pan damage. Before welding, cutting or pulling anywhere near it, the high-voltage system is shut down and left to discharge, and the pack case is examined for deformation, coolant weeping and damaged mounts.
Lifting is its own discipline: an electric Nissan has defined lift points, and a hoist arm under a battery tray creates exactly the kind of damage nobody wants to explain to an insurance company. If a pack shows impact damage we tell you plainly rather than working around it, because a compromised case is not something a body shop should sign off on. Everything else — panels, refinish, sensors — follows the same path as any other Nissan through our doors.
