Auto Painting in Scarborough

We refinish Scarborough vehicles at our shop in the Keele & Sheppard area — panels repainted after a collision, hoods and roofs dulled by years on an open driveway, rocker panels rescued from salt. Colour is mixed to your paint code, adjusted against the panel as it is today, blended into the panels beside it, and warranted for as long as you own the car.

A driveway borough is hard on paint

Most Scarborough cars sleep outside — on the wide bungalow driveways off Birchmount and Midland, in the open tower lots along Markham Rd and Kingston Rd, at the kerb where the driveway is full. A finish that spends a decade uncovered in the east end takes the full menu: summer sun chalking the clear coat on the hood and roof, winter salt spray creeping into every stone chip on the leading edges, and the fine sandblasting that 120,000 km of 401 commuting delivers to a front bumper. By the time the colour looks tired, the clear coat is usually already failing — and clear coat does not heal.

Salt is the deadline. A chip that stays sealed is cosmetic; a chip that winters over on a car parked outdoors becomes a rust freckle, and a scraped rocker or arch left bare through February starts bubbling from underneath. That is why we push Scarborough owners to refinish damage in the fall rather than the spring — the panel you paint before the salt season costs a fraction of the one you replace after it.

Matching paint that has lived ten years outdoors

The number on your door jamb is where a colour match starts, not where it ends. A decade of east-end sun shifts every finish away from its factory code — silvers go slightly grey, reds soften, pearls flatten — so we mix to the code, spray a test card, and correct against the actual panel under proper light before the gun touches your car. The colour is then blended into the neighbouring panels rather than stopped at a panel edge, because a hard edge is exactly where the eye catches a repair in low evening sun on the 401.

Preparation carries the rest of the result. Old repairs get uncovered and assessed honestly, rust is cut back to clean metal rather than sealed under filler, and primer, base, and clear go on in a controlled booth — not in a driveway and not around dust. The refinish carries our lifetime paint warranty, which is only a sensible thing to offer because the preparation underneath it is done properly the first time.

  • Colour mixed to code, then corrected against your panel under proper light
  • Blends into adjacent panels so no hard edge shows in sunlight
  • Rust cut out and treated, never buried under filler
  • Booth-applied primer, base, and clear — lifetime warranty on the result

Painting a car without losing it for a week you cannot spare

Refinish work schedules cleanly because the surprises are found before you drop the car off. Send photos of the panel — the damage, the whole side, a close-up of any chips or bubbling — and the written estimate that comes back sets the scope honestly: sometimes one panel and a blend, sometimes two, occasionally the truth that a respray is not worth the vehicle it would go on. You drive over once, down the 401 to Keele, with the decision already made.

If the paint work is part of a collision claim, it folds into the same file the owner is already running with your insurance company, and the rental through your coverage is timed to your drop-off. If it is out-of-pocket — a faded hood, a scraped door you never claimed — you get a firm written number and a schedule that respects it. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, Sundays by appointment, at (647) 594-3401.

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

Can you match the paint on a ten-year-old car that has always parked outside?

Yes — that is normal Scarborough work. We mix to your factory code, then adjust the mix against the panel as it exists today and blend into the surrounding panels. The blend is what makes fresh paint and decade-old paint read as one surface in direct sun.

Is it worth repainting just one faded panel, or does the whole car need it?

Often one panel and a blend is enough — a chalked hood or a scraped door can be refinished to match the rest. We will tell you plainly when fade is uniform enough that a single panel would stand out, and what the honest options cost, before you commit to anything.

My rocker panels are bubbling from salt. Is that a paint job or a repair?

Bubbling means rust is working from behind the paint, so spraying over it wastes money. The metal gets cut back to clean steel, repaired or sectioned as needed, then primed and refinished. Done before the next salt season, it is a contained job; left another winter, it usually is not.

The line we hear most: “I couldn’t tell where the damage had been.”

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
