Auto Painting in King City

Gravel driveways, sanded sideroads, and year-round outdoor parking are hard on King City paint, and Collision Auto Center repairs the result — chips, faded panels, and refinishing after bodywork. Colour is matched to your code, adjusted to the car as it stands, and blended into neighbouring panels, with a lifetime warranty on the refinish. We are about 22–30 minutes down Keele or the 400.

What King Township does to a finish

Paint in King City fights the ground it drives on. Gravel driveways and gravel shoulders throw stones at rockers, arches, and the leading edge of the hood every single day; the township’s sanded sideroads do the same all winter, and construction traffic around the new subdivisions off King Road adds its own spray. Each strike that gets through the clearcoat is an opening, and the salt bath on King Road and the 400 finds every one of them. By the time a hood shows a constellation of chips, the earliest ones are usually already brown at the centre.

The other enemy is simply the sky. Estate lots here rarely park cars indoors — garages hold everything else — so horizontal panels take UV all summer and tree sap where the driveway runs under maples. Clearcoat dulls, reds and blacks fade fastest, and a panel resprayed years ago by a shop that skipped the blend starts to stand out. Sorting which of these problems is cosmetic and which is protective is the first honest step, and it starts with photos you can send before ever driving down.

Matching the colour your car is today

Every vehicle carries a paint code, but no five-year-old vehicle still wears it exactly. Our match starts from the code, gets sprayed out on a test card, and is checked against your actual panel under corrected light before the gun touches the car — then the colour is blended into the adjacent panels so there is no hard edge for sunlight to find. On metallics and pearls, common on the SUVs King City runs, that blend is the entire difference between a repair that disappears and one you notice at every angle in the driveway.

Preparation is where longevity is decided. Chips and scratches are cut back to sound material, any rust that has started underneath is removed rather than sealed over, and primer, base, and clear go on in a controlled booth — not in dusty air that would leave texture in the finish. The refinish carries a lifetime warranty for as long as the car is yours, which only makes business sense because the preparation is done properly the first time.

  • Colour matched to code, then tuned to your car’s actual panels
  • Blend into neighbouring panels — no visible repair edge
  • Rust cut out before refinishing, never painted over
  • Booth-applied primer, base, and clear with a lifetime warranty

Paint work without repeat trips up and down Keele

Refinishing has a fixed rhythm — preparation, spray, cure, polish — so we schedule King City paint work to respect the distance. Photos come first: they let us scope the work, flag anything that is really a rust or bodywork job wearing a paint problem’s clothes, and put a written number in your hands before you commit to the drive. Drop-off is one trip down Keele Street or the 400, and if the work rides on an insurance claim, we time the rental through your coverage to that morning.

When the car is ready, it is inspected under proper light and driven before pickup. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, Sundays by appointment; call (647) 594-3401 or start with photos and get the number first.

Good to know

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

My hood is covered in stone chips from our gravel driveway. Touch-up or repaint?

Density decides it. A few isolated chips can be touched up acceptably, but a leading edge peppered with dozens will always look speckled, and each chip is a rust seed. At that point a proper repaint of the hood — cut back, primed, sprayed, blended — is the repair that lasts. Send photos and we will tell you honestly which side of the line your hood is on.

Can you match a faded colour, or will the new panel stand out?

We match to the car as it stands, not to the factory chart. The mix starts from your paint code, gets adjusted against your actual faded panel, and is blended into the panels on either side so the transition is invisible. A repaint that stands out is almost always one that skipped the blend, not one that mixed the wrong code.

Is paint damage from road salt or sand something insurance covers?

Gradual wear — chips, dulling, salt etching — is maintenance, not a claim, so it is priced as customer-pay work and we quote it in writing from photos. If the paint damage is part of a collision or vandalism, it rides on that claim like the rest of the repair. Either way the refinish carries the same lifetime warranty.

What customers say

The line we hear most: “I couldn’t tell where the damage had been.”

★★★★★

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
