Auto Painting in The Beaches

We repaint and refinish Beaches vehicles at our North York shop — panels scraped at the curb, hoods and roofs dulled by years of lakefront sun, full refinishing after collision work. Colour is mixed to your factory code, test-sprayed against the real panel, blended into the neighbouring panels, and covered by a lifetime paint warranty.

Lakefront light is beautiful and brutal

Paint in the Beaches ages on fast-forward. A car without a garage — which is most of the neighbourhood — spends every summer day in open sun bouncing off the lake, every winter night wet with humid air off the water, and every March coated in salt film. Clear coat on horizontal panels goes chalky years earlier than it would in a suburb full of carports; reds and blacks show it first. By the time an owner notices the hood no longer matches the doors, the finish has usually been breaking down for a couple of seasons.

The curb adds its own catalogue: parallel-parking scrapes layered one over another on the same rear corner, a stripe of someone else’s paint down a door on a too-narrow street, bird traffic from the poplars and the boardwalk gulls etching rings into the clear. Each one is small. Together they are why a five-year-old car from Silver Birch can look ten, and why refinishing done properly — not touch-up paint from a tube — is the fix that lasts.

Matching colour on a sun-weathered car

A factory paint code describes the colour your car wore the day it was built, not the colour it wears after years beside Lake Ontario. So the code is where we start, never where we finish. The mix gets sprayed out on a test card, checked against your actual panel under corrected light, and adjusted until the two read as one. Then the new paint is blended into the adjacent panels rather than stopped at a hard edge, because a hard edge is exactly what the eye catches in low evening sun on Queen East.

Preparation is the unglamorous majority of the job: dents worked flat, old failing clear cut back, corrosion removed to bright metal rather than sealed underneath where it would keep growing. The spray happens in a controlled booth, the cure happens under proper heat, and the finish is inspected before the car goes anywhere. Every refinish we do is warranted for as long as you own the vehicle — that is the standard we are signing our name to.

Paying for it — insurance or out of pocket

When the paint work is part of accident damage, it belongs in the claim, and we run that claim with your insurance company from our office — including the argument, when needed, that a proper blend into neighbouring panels is part of a correct repair rather than an extra. When it is wear and tear you are fixing on your own dime, we say so plainly and quote it that way; not every faded hood needs an insurance file attached.

Either way, start with photos in good light and we will come back with a written number and an honest read on what is worth doing. The shop is off Keele just south of Sheppard — about half an hour from the Beaches up the DVP and the 401 outside rush hour — open Monday through Saturday 8 AM to 7 PM, Sundays by appointment. The owner walks the finished car with you at pickup before you head back down to the lake.

  • Colour mixed to code, then tuned to your car’s actual panels
  • Blending into adjacent panels so the repair has no visible edge
  • Corrosion cut out before refinishing, never painted over
  • Lifetime warranty on every refinish, in writing

Good to know

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

My roof and hood are chalky but the sides still shine. Why?

Horizontal panels take the ultraviolet hit head-on, and lakefront sun plus outdoor parking accelerates it. The clear coat oxidizes and stops reflecting light evenly. Polishing helps only in the early stage; once the clear has failed, refinishing those panels is the repair that actually holds.

Can you paint just the scraped part of my door?

We refinish the full panel and blend into its neighbours rather than spot-spraying a patch, because a patch reads as a patch within a season — especially on metallics and anything that bakes outdoors near the lake. The blend is what makes the repair invisible in direct sun.

How long does paint work keep my car off the street?

A single panel with blend typically runs a few days once parts and paint are in hand — preparation, spray, cure, polish, and inspection each take their turn, and rushing the cure is how finishes fail early. We give you a written timeline with the estimate, and if a rental is available under your coverage we line it up with your drop-off.

What customers say

The line we hear most: “I couldn’t tell where the damage had been.”

★★★★★

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
