Long Branch sits wedged between the rail corridor and the lake, which makes the way out simpler than it looks on a map: Browns Line runs north from Lake Shore and feeds directly into the 427, the 427 meets the 401, and our building is off Keele just below Sheppard. Outside of rush hour that is about 22 to 32 minutes door to door. In the morning crush the 401 east adds time, and we say so — most customers beat it by coming up mid-morning or early afternoon, or by handing off the keys on a Saturday, when the whole run is at its shortest.

Nobody drives 21 km for a body shop out of convenience, and we do not pretend otherwise. Long Branch drivers come up because the estimate is written by the owner, the claim is run from our office rather than from their kitchen table, and the same person answers the phone every time they call. The photo estimate is what makes the distance workable: pictures first, a written number back fast, and the drive up happens once — with the decision already made, the parts already ordered, and the rental already booked through your coverage.

What the neighbourhood does to its cars

The 501 finishes its run at the Long Branch loop, so the stretch of Lake Shore between Kipling and the loop nearly always has a streetcar in it — and a queue of cars braking behind one, threading past parallel-parked vehicles, or turning left across wet steel rail. That geometry writes a lot of the local damage: bumper taps behind a stopping streetcar, mirrors clipped in the squeeze past a delivery van, and front corners caught turning at Lake Shore & Kipling. The strip’s parking spaces add their own scars every winter once the snowbanks narrow them further.

South of Lake Shore the numbered streets — Twenty Third through the low Forties — were platted for cottages, and the bungalows and new builds that replaced them inherited the tight lots. Mutual driveways shared between neighbours scrape fenders and fold mirrors; street-parked cars take door dings and overnight sideswipes; and the steady infill construction means contractor pickups, dumpsters, and material deliveries working streets that were never meant for them. Add the commuter lot at Long Branch GO, where doors meet doors all day, and most of what this neighbourhood sends us never involved two moving cars at all.

The routine for a drivable car is one trip. Text or email photos of the damage, get the written estimate back, decide, and bring the car up when the work is actually ready to start — hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, with Sundays by appointment for anyone whose week belongs to the GO schedule. If a rental is part of your claim, we time its pickup to your arrival so the swap happens in one stop instead of two.

Ontario’s towing rules put the destination in your hands: the operator takes the car where you say and must give you an itemized invoice. Tell the driver Collision Auto Center, off Keele just south of Sheppard, and we take it from there — the claim, the adjuster, the parts, and the updates.
