Why Lansing drivers make the trip

Worth the drive, once — then it’s your shop

Half of Lansing parks underground now, and underground parking has its own damage list: pillar scrapes, ramp scuffs, mirrors folded the hard way. The other half parks on rebuilt side streets like Bogert and Poyntz, where windrows and contractor pickups do the damage instead. Either way, the trip to us never leaves Sheppard. The owner writes the estimate himself, opens the claim, and deals with the adjuster so you don’t have to.

Around Lansing: Sheppard-Yonge station · Willowdale Park · Avenue & Sheppard

Your insurance company can’t choose your shop — in Ontario that choice is always yours. Here’s how that works.

A neighbourhood that parks underground

The towers around Sheppard-Yonge station changed what Lansing bodywork looks like. Cars that live in condo garages rarely come in with highway damage — they come in with the marks a tight P2 leaves over a winter: a rear quarter dragged along a pillar on the spiral ramp, paint transfer from a concrete column that crept closer than the mirror showed, a door edge chipped against the wall of a narrow stall. The damage is slow-speed and looks minor, but a pillar scrape often digs past the clear coat into the base colour, and a bumper corner that met concrete can hide a cracked bracket behind it.

West of Yonge the picture flips. Streets like Bogert, Poyntz, and Johnston are in the middle of a long teardown-and-rebuild cycle, which means contractor pickups, bins on the road, and parking squeezed to one side. Mirrors get clipped, doors get dinged, and in February the plow windrow at the end of the driveway hardens into something that peels a bumper cover loose when you nose through it. None of this makes headlines. All of it is real bodywork, and it is most of what Lansing sends us.

Sheppard runs door to door

From Yonge & Sheppard the drive is one road: Sheppard Ave W past Beecroft, over the West Don valley, past Bathurst and the Allen, and we are off Keele just south of Sheppard — about 10 to 15 minutes in ordinary traffic. The 401 is the alternative, one stretch between Yonge and Keele, but the ramp queues at Yonge usually make the surface run the honest choice. If the car isn’t safe to drive, tell us where it sits and we help arrange the tow, including flatbed pickups coordinated with condo property management when the vehicle is stuck below grade.

Getting home after drop-off is easier from Lansing than from almost anywhere we serve: the 84 Sheppard West bus runs right past the shop and ends at Sheppard-Yonge station, so you can hand over the keys and be back at the interchange without asking anyone for a ride. If a rental is part of your claim, we time it to your drop-off through your coverage so you are not standing in our lot waiting. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, with Sundays by appointment — and a photo estimate by text gets you a written number before you commit to the trip at all.

  • Send photos first — a written estimate comes back fast, no visit needed
  • The 84 Sheppard West bus connects the shop to Sheppard-Yonge station
  • Tow coordinated from condo garages, driveways, or the roadside
  • Rental arranged through your coverage and timed to your drop-off

One person runs your file, start to finish

The owner owns the shop and writes every estimate, which matters most on insurance work. Under Ontario’s DCPD rules, damage you didn’t cause goes through your own insurance company, and you — not the adjuster — choose the shop that does the repair. A preferred shop can be recommended to you; it cannot be required. We open the claim, photograph everything, file the supplement if teardown finds damage the first estimate missed, and give you updates from the person actually fixing the car. The paint and refinish work carries a lifetime warranty, and replacement parts carry a parts-and-installation warranty with an OEM preference where it matters.

Lansing questions

Questions from Lansing drivers

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

My car was hit in a condo garage near Sheppard-Yonge and can’t be driven. Can you get it out?

Yes. We help arrange a tow that suits the situation — low-clearance garages usually need a wheel-lift or a coordinated flatbed pickup at the ramp — and we can work with your building’s property management on access. Tell us the address and level, and we handle it from there.

My insurance company already named a preferred shop near Yonge & Sheppard. Do I have to use it?

No. In Ontario the choice of repair shop is yours. An insurance company can recommend a preferred shop, but it cannot require one, and your policy covers the repair here the same way. We open the claim and deal with the adjuster directly on your behalf.

How do I get home to Lansing after I drop the car off?

The 84 Sheppard West bus stops near the shop and runs straight back to Sheppard-Yonge station, so most Lansing customers are home within half an hour. If your claim includes a rental, we arrange it through your coverage and time the pickup to your drop-off instead.

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
