A direct impact with an animal is normally claimed under your comprehensive coverage rather than as an at-fault collision — though if you swerved and hit something else instead, that generally falls under collision coverage. Either way, notify your insurance company promptly; the standard Ontario policy expects notice within about seven days, and we can walk you through which coverage applies before anything is filed.
