North of Sheppard, Bayview Village still looks like the plan from the 1960s: streets that curve with the East Don ravine instead of running on a grid, long driveways, and sightlines interrupted by mature trees. It photographs beautifully and drives awkwardly. Backing out of a driveway onto a curve means trusting a mirror; in winter, the plow’s windrow seals that driveway and the packed ridge creases valances and folds licence-plate brackets on the way through. Add the teardown-rebuild wave — bins on the road, delivery trucks on streets built for two lanes of 1965 traffic — and the crescents produce a steady file of scraped quarters, clipped mirrors, and corner-of-the-bumper hits.

South of Sheppard and out toward Leslie, the neighbourhood is vertical. The towers around Bessarion station send their residents down spiral ramps into stacked garages, and those ramps leave their signature: pillar paint on doors, ground corners, wheels scuffed on unforgiving curbs. Between the two halves sits the traffic that connects them — Sheppard’s stop-and-go past Bayview Village Shops, the left-turn queues into the mall, and the 401 ramps at Bayview feeding the busiest highway on the continent. Very little of what we see from this neighbourhood is dramatic. Almost all of it hides something behind the panel.

One street between your driveway and our lot

The logistics could not be simpler. Sheppard Avenue runs from Bayview straight west across Yonge, Bathurst, and the Allen to Keele; we sit just south of Sheppard, and the trip takes about 13 to 19 minutes in normal traffic. There is no reason to touch the 401 unless you happen to be on it already. After you hand over the keys, the 84 Sheppard West bus and Line 4 from Sheppard-Yonge put you back at Bessarion or Bayview station without recruiting a second driver — or, if a rental is part of your coverage, we schedule its pickup for the moment you arrive so the swap happens once.

Start with photos rather than a drive. Three pictures from your driveway or the parking level — the full corner, the damage close up, one wide frame — get you a written number fast, which turns your one trip along Sheppard into a drop-off instead of an inspection. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, Sundays by appointment. How the claim works — and who actually runs it

Under Ontario’s DCPD system, damage you did not cause — in whole or in part — is paid by your own insurance company, with the split decided by the province’s Fault Determination Rules. Notify your insurance company promptly; your policy expects notice within seven days. If anyone is hurt or the combined damage looks likely to pass $5,000, the collision also gets reported at a Collision Reporting Centre. From that point the file lives in our office: we open the claim, deal with the adjuster directly, and document supplements with photographs when teardown finds what the first look missed.

Bayview Village’s driveways hold a lot of leased and newer vehicles, so the parts conversation matters here more than most places. No Ontario rule forces original-equipment parts, and insurance companies often write for like-kind-and-quality — but you can request OEM, and where a part touches safety or structure we make that case to the adjuster ourselves.
