Freeze–thaw opens potholes around the streetcar tracks on Gerrard and Broadview — hard-edged ones, because the pavement fails first along the rail — and the salt that keeps the hill at Riverdale Park usable works quietly on every chip and scrape the rest of the year left behind. Streetcar tracks on one side, the Parkway on the other
Riverdale drives differently than most of the city. Broadview, Gerrard, Dundas, and Queen all carry streetcars, and a streetcar street produces a specific crash: the car ahead stops for opening doors and the car behind was watching the tracks instead. Add the Ontario Line construction squeezing lanes and rerouting traffic around Gerrard and Carlaw, and merges in South Riverdale now happen late, close, and often with a fender involved. A block west of all of it runs the DVP, which supplies the heavier file — stop-and-go rear-ends between the Richmond ramps and Bloor, and the wet-night slide that ends against a barrier.

Photograph the car where it sits, including the whole street side, and report the hit-and-run to police — insurance companies expect a report when the driver is unknown. Then send us the photos.
